Lesson #015: You Never Know the Whole Story Someone Else Was Carrying
Have you ever looked back at a season of life years later and suddenly understood it differently?
As we grow older, we gain something we simply couldn’t have had when we were younger: perspective.
We know what we experienced. We remember what we saw. We know how something made us feel.
But we don’t always know what another person was carrying behind the scenes.
Maybe they were afraid.
Maybe they were struggling financially.
Maybe they were grieving.
Maybe they were trying to protect someone they loved.
Maybe they were simply doing the best they knew how to do during an incredibly difficult season.
And here’s something important:
❤️ Understanding someone else’s perspective doesn’t require you to erase your own.
Two people can walk through the same season and experience it very differently.
In today’s Laurie’s Lesson, we’re talking about empathy, perspective, grace, family relationships, forgiveness, and learning to ask a powerful question before judging someone’s past choices:
“What might they have been carrying that I never knew about?”
That question doesn’t excuse hurtful behavior or erase what happened. It simply makes room for compassion and understanding.
📖 Today’s Scripture — Ephesians 4:2 (KJV)
“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;”
Maybe there’s someone in your life whose story deserves another look—not necessarily to change what happened, but to understand it through older, wiser, more compassionate eyes.
And maybe you’re the person who has been misunderstood.
Remember: God knows the entire story. He knows your intentions, your struggles, your mistakes, your growth, and what you were carrying when nobody else did. ❤️
💬 I’d love to hear from you:
Have you ever gotten older and suddenly understood something your parents, spouse, friend, or someone else did years ago in a completely different way?
📤 Share this with someone who could use a little more grace today.
