Stop Losing People

Laurie’s Lesson #007 – Stop Losing People in the First 3 Seconds!

Today I had the privilege of meeting with one of my real estate clients to talk about marketing, relationship marketing, referral marketing, and social media strategy.

One piece of advice they had been given was to make their videos change pictures as FAST as possible to keep people’s attention.

My response?
Yes… but not TOO fast.
There is a balance.

If your content moves too slowly, people may scroll by.

But if it moves too quickly, your audience doesn’t have time to process what they’re seeing. Instead of grabbing their attention, you may actually overwhelm them—and they’ll scroll away.

The goal isn’t to create chaos…
The goal is to create curiosity.

💡 Remember:
✅ Attention gets the click.
✅ Value earns the watch.
✅ Consistency builds trust.
✅ Relationships build businesses.

Whether you’re in real estate, direct sales, coaching, ministry, or own any type of business, your marketing shouldn’t just chase views—it should build connections.

I’ve built businesses for more than 30 years, and one thing has never changed:

People do business with people they know, like, trust AND REMEMBER.

Instead of trying to be louder than everyone else…
Be more valuable.

Instead of trying to impress everyone…
Serve someone.

That’s how you build a business that lasts.

I’d love to hear from you! 👇

God doesn’t call the qualified

Laurie’s Lesson #006
God Doesn’t Call the Qualified. He Qualifies the Called.

“Choosing Faith. Live with Purpose.”

Have you ever felt unqualified?

Like everyone else has more experience…
More knowledge…
More confidence…
More talent…

And then that little voice whispers:

“Who do you think you are?”
I’ve learned something over the years.

God has never been looking for perfect people.
He’s looking for willing people.

When God called Moses, he felt inadequate.
When God called Gideon, he felt weak.
When God called Esther, she felt afraid.

Again and again throughout Scripture, God chose ordinary people and did extraordinary things through them.

Why?
Because the power was never in the person.

The power was in God.

Sometimes we spend so much time focusing on what we lack that we forget Who is walking with us.

You may not feel ready.
You may not feel qualified.
You may not have all the answers.

But if God has placed something on your heart…
Don’t let fear talk you out of what faith is calling you toward.

The truth is…
Most of us grow into the calling.
We don’t arrive fully prepared.
We take one faithful step at a time.

And somewhere along the journey, we discover that God has been equipping us all along.

❤️ Stop focusing on your limitations.

Start focusing on God’s faithfulness.

Because He has never called anyone without also providing what they need for the journey.

📖 “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)

❤️ Today’s Reflection
Is there something God has placed on your heart that you’ve been avoiding because you don’t feel qualified?

🙏 Today’s Prayer
Lord, help me trust You more than I trust my fears. Remind me that You don’t call perfect people—you call willing hearts. Give me courage to take the next step, knowing that You will equip me for everything You’ve called me to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If this encouraged you today, share it with someone who needs the reminder that God can use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.

Be Present

Laurie’s Lesson #005
The People in Front of You Matter Most

Yesterday was Father’s Day.

I could have posted another Laurie’s Lesson.

Instead…
I chose to live one.
I turned off social media.
I put my phone away.

I spent the day making memories with the people God has entrusted to my life.

My dad.
My sister.
My husband.
Our children.
Our grandchildren.

We shared a meal.
We laughed.
We swam.
We talked.
We simply enjoyed being together.

And not once did I think…
“I wish I’d spent more time on my phone.”

But I know one day I’ll look back and treasure every conversation, every laugh, every hug, and every memory we made together.

Technology is a wonderful tool.
But it should never replace the people sitting right in front of us.

One day, our children won’t remember how quickly we answered a text.
They’ll remember whether we looked into their eyes when they were talking.

Our grandchildren won’t remember how many posts we made.
They’ll remember that we got in the pool.

Life isn’t measured by how much content we create.
It’s measured by the love we give and the moments we share.

So today…
Put the phone down.
Look someone in the eyes.
Listen a little longer.
Laugh a little louder.
Love a little deeper.

Because the people in front of you are one of God’s greatest gifts.

❤️ Be fully present.

That’s where some of life’s greatest blessings are found.

📖 “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:16 (KJV)

❤️ Today’s Reflection
Who in your life needs more of your presence than your screen today?

🙏 Today’s Prayer
Lord, thank You for the precious people You’ve placed in my life. Help me never become so distracted by the urgent that I miss what is truly important. Teach me to be fully present, to listen well, to love deeply, and to treasure the moments that can never be repeated. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If this lesson encouraged you, consider putting your phone down for a while today and giving someone you love your undivided attention.

I have a feeling they’ll remember that far longer than anything you could post online. ❤️

Don’t compare

Laurie’s Lesson #004
Don’t Compare Your Chapter 3 to Someone Else’s Chapter 30

“Choosing Faith. Live with Purpose.”

Comparison has a way of stealing our joy without us even realizing it.

We scroll through social media…
We celebrate someone else’s success…
Then suddenly we begin questioning our own worth, our progress, or even God’s plan for our lives.

But here’s what I’ve learned…
Most of us compare our weaknesses to someone else’s strengths.
We compare our behind-the-scenes to someone else’s highlight reel.
We compare our beginning to someone else’s breakthrough.

That’s not reality.
That’s distorted perspective.

The truth is…

You have no idea what someone has walked through to become the person they are today.

You don’t know the tears they’ve cried.
The prayers they’ve prayed.
The failures they’ve overcome.
The battles they’ve fought when no one was watching.

In the same way…
Others don’t know your story either.

God isn’t asking you to become someone else.
He created only one you.

Your life.
Your journey.
Your gifts.
Your testimony.
Your purpose.

They’re all uniquely yours.
Stop measuring your life against someone else’s ruler.

Instead…
Measure your life by one question:

“Am I becoming the person God created me to be?”

Your past does not define your future.
Your hardships do not determine your destiny.
God is still writing your story.

And His plans for you have never required you to compare yourself to anyone else.

Be faithful.
Be authentic.
Be grateful.

And most of all…
❤️ Be YOUniquely YOU.

📖 “For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves… but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” — 2 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV)

❤️ Today’s Reflection

Have I been spending more time comparing my journey…or trusting God’s purpose for my life?

🙏 Today’s Prayer

Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve compared my life to others instead of trusting the beautiful story You’re writing for me. Help me celebrate the gifts You’ve given others without losing sight of the unique purpose You’ve created for me. Teach me to find my identity in You alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If this lesson encouraged you today, share it with someone who needs the reminder that they were never created to be a copy of someone else.

Bloom Where God Has Planted You

Laurie’s Lesson #003
Bloom Where God Has Planted You

Have you ever found yourself wishing you were already in the next season?

I’ve been there.

It’s easy to think…
“I’ll be happy when…”
“I’ll have peace when…”
“I’ll finally live with purpose when…”

But what if we’re overlooking the very place where God is doing His deepest work?

I’ve discovered that purpose isn’t something we arrive at one day.

It’s something we live every single day by being faithful with what’s right in front of us.

The small acts of kindness.
The quiet prayers no one else hears.
The encouraging text.
The handwritten card.
The conversation that reminds someone they aren’t alone.

None of those moments are small in God’s eyes.

Sometimes we’re so focused on the future that we forget God is working in the present.

Faithfulness today prepares us for tomorrow.

Blooming doesn’t happen because everything around us is perfect.
Flowers bloom because they’re connected to the One who gives them life.

No matter what season you’re walking through today, don’t underestimate what God can do through a heart that simply says…

“Lord, here I am. Use me.”

📖 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” — Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

❤️ Today’s Reflection
Where has God planted you today that you’ve been overlooking while waiting for “someday”?

🙏 Today’s Prayer
Jesus, help me to be faithful where You’ve planted me. Open my eyes to the opportunities You place before me today. Teach me to trust that even the smallest acts of obedience matter in Your Kingdom. May my life bloom wherever You choose to plant me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If this encouraged you today, I’d love to hear from you.
What is one place God has you right now where you can choose to be faithful today?
